The ST Female to ST Female Simplex SM Fiber Optic Adapter is designed to provide a reliable connection between two ST single-mode fiber optic connectors. Featuring a female connector interface on both ends, this simplex adapter allows for the inline connection of ST patch cables or equipment with ST male connectors. The internal alignment sleeve, typically made of high-precision ceramic (zirconia), ensures accurate alignment of the fiber cores, resulting in low insertion loss and optimal signal transmission for single-mode applications. The polish type is usually UPC (Ultra Physical Contact), which minimizes back reflection for most single-mode requirements. APC (Angled Physical Contact) versions may also be available for more sensitive applications requiring even lower return loss. The adapter housing can be either metal (for enhanced durability and shielding) or plastic (for a lighter and potentially more cost-effective solution).
